Fjord and brackish water

The area from Ringkøbing Fjord to Thy offers an unusually varied range of fishing opportunities, with something for every angler. In the fjord’s calm brackish waters around Ringkøbing Fjord and Hvide Sande, many species gather because the mix of salt and fresh water creates rich feeding conditions, and the sluice acts as a natural passage where fish concentrate during their migrations.

Open coast

Moving out toward the North Sea at Thorsminde and Klitmøller, conditions become harsher — but also more exciting — as waves, depth, and currents bring food close to shore and attract larger predatory fish and flatfish. From Hanstholm, you can sail out to the Yellow Reef, a popular sea-fishing area with a great chance of catching large bottom-dwelling fish.

Harbors and piers

Harbors and piers such as Hvide Sande, Vorupør, and Hanstholm also offer a unique opportunity to reach deep water from land, where shelter, current seams, and rock formations gather both baitfish and hunting predators, often resulting in intense fishing.

Lakes and put-and-take

If you prefer calmer surroundings, freshwater lakes such as Vandet Lake and Nors Lake provide a close-to-nature experience with stable populations of pike and perch, while put-and-take lakes are the obvious choice if your goal is almost guaranteed catches and easy access fishing.
